This physical practice class is intended to develop and hone an understanding of the kinesthetics of contemporary modern dance. By cultivating greater sensitivity to the body, dancers can begin to refine their skills in relation to issues of gravity, isolation of body parts, whole body movement, and an equilibrium between passive and active movement choices. In the effort to free oneself from habit, unconscious movement choices and strains, the primary focus of the class will be the maintenance of proper alignment and mechanics to generate strength, control, and awareness in the physical structure. We will move with athleticism and release, specificity and generosity, individually and TOGETHER.
