Kid-Powerment with Gracious Dance

  • Nu Movement 716 University Avenue (entrance on Atlantic Ave) Rochester New York United States (map)

This healing movement program is designed to teach tools and skills to elementary aged children who have experienced traumatic life events or circumstances. Children will learn through games and activities and will have the opportunity to build and explore healthy friendships in a safe environment! Participants will learn breathing techniques, regulation tools, and experience the joyfulness of movement in a trauma sensitive environment. This class is not focused on a particular dance style and will not teach technique or choreography- the focus will be on movement as a tool for regulation and healing. We do ask that care takers stay, or remain close by during the class.

This is a donation based class, there is NO obligation to pay, and we encourage participants to register, only to reserve their spot. Please reach out to Rebecca Phelps at dancegracious@gmail.com (mailto:dancegracious@gmail.com) if you have any questions regarding this class, or would like to request any accommodations. Our Kid-Powerment group is open to children who have experienced traumatic events or circumstances, and are looking for regulation tools and building healthy friendships!
