NU Movement is proud to be the first in Rochester to offer a monthly OM Chanting and be part of the project Cites of Light. Vesna Sanders (certified OMC coordinator) will be facilitating this monthly circle.
In an OM chanting circle we harmoniously chant the primordial mantra OM for about 45min, siting on the floor or in a chair. OMC is an ancient healing technique that has a tremendous healing potential; it is very calming and harmonizing. It purifies your own negativity and the collective negativity of all beings.
By lending your voice to this group OM Chanting, you will add your contribution to uplifting everyone that attends.
This FREE class is offered on the 2nd Friday of every month from 5:45pm - 7:00pm
Monthly Moon Gatherings
Join Marissa Bland every third Friday of the month for an intimate evening of honoring the moon and all of her magic.
Participants will be walked through a Moon Ceremony in order to pay homage to the current moon phase and to align our lives with it's metaphysical properties. Crystals, meditations, chakra work and moon salutations will be used to enhance the effects of the moon and to use them to guide our spiritual and physical journey. Leave with an understanding of the significance of each moon phase, as well as with tools to honor the next month's full and /or new moon.
Each month a new theme will be posted, as well as a variety of unique activities tailored to the specifics of that month's moon. This will be a safe space for opening ourselves up in order to perform the inner-work necessary to align ourselves with the lunar phases, as well as an educational opportunity to become 'moon-savy'.
This class is offered on the 3rd Friday of every month from 6:00pm - 7:30pm
Come join Instructor, Linda Bayer-Lawrence for a NEW type of yoga practice that combines meditation with a fun & easy art experience. Like yoga, art is an engaging way to reduce stress, calm the mind and connect to your inner self.
We will begin our practice with a short meditation to get ourselves quiet and focused. Then, we will move through a peaceful yoga flow taking a break to participate in a collaborative art experience. Our Art & Flow event will end with savasana, followed by a group photo.
All art materials are provided. Each participant will take home a portion of our collaborative painting. Yoga mats and blocks are available at the studio. There will be a new art activity and "theme" each month.
This class is offered on the 2nd Sunday of every month from 12:30pm - 2:00pm
A gong is one of the oldest therapeutic instruments and one of the most soothing holistic treatments. It’s healing vibration* will take every participant on a personal inner journey. Gongs are energy generators, able to affect an individual on a cellular level, allowing deep balancing to take place. Nothing can clear your mind like a gong does! Gongs release tension in the physical body, and they also work deeply on the mental, emotional and spiritual bodies.
During a gong bath, lead by instructor Vesna Sanders, participants lie on the floor covered in a blanket, for about 45 min and simply get “massaged” by the transformational sound of the gong. At the beginning of class we take time for a guided relaxation and to connect with the theme of the class. At the end of class we reserve a few minutes for silence and a slow, gentle awakening from the sound session. Props are provided at the studio, however bringing a blanket, a pillow and water is recommended. Complementary tea is offered at the studio.
This class is offered on the 2nd Sunday of every month from 4:00pm - 5:00pm / Date changed to May 7th
*A Gong Bath is not recommended for pregnant women due to the unstable nature of any pregnancy, nor for people with sensitivity to sound. Gong Baths should never be used instead of medical treatment and one should never discontinue medical treatments or medicines without permission from their doctor.
Brought to you by, W.E.T Women Expressing Themselves: Anne Skivington-Simes, Cyndi Pieramico, DJ Lee Gray
This Yoga practice merges the graceful movements of dance with the ancient, therapeutic postures of Hatha Yoga. We will flow in meditative and safe sequences that float together with expressive, dance inspired transitions, linking you with your breath as you let go and move freely to the music with the helpful guidance Anne Skivington-Simes.
There will be opportunities for you to explore your own individual movement and expression during this Yoga-Dance portion of the evening. This is a "slow-flow" style adaptable for students of every level.
We will make our way down to our final resting pose, Savasana where you will be assisted into truly relaxing Restorative Yoga Poses where you will be fully supported by props. This Restorative portion of the evening will include Essential Oil Aromatherapy and a guided relaxation / mediation to help you ease into your week. Complimentary hot, herbal tea will be offered at the end of class and guests are encouraged to stay awhile, mingle and leave when ready.
This class is offered on the 2nd Sunday of every month from 7:30pm - 9:30pm / Date changed for May 14th
