I have been practicing yoga since the age of fourteen, but came to practice more regularly and deeply about three years ago: I was hoping to not only “cure” a running injury, but also soothe my anxiety. What resulted was an incredible surprise: not only was I able to continue running, but I felt healthier, stronger, more balanced, and more at peace with myself and my circumstances. I became fascinated by yoga, reading whatever literature I could get my hands on, attended a variety of workshops, and practiced everything from power vinyasa to chair yoga. I came to realize I enjoyed practicing somewhere in the middle: I liked movement and challenge, but I also liked learning how to slow down and cultivate stillness and depth of experience.
