KATHERINE MARINO - Dance Instructor

Katherine Marino grew up in Rochester, NY dancing at various studios including the Hochstein School of Music and Dance and the Garth Fagan Dance School. She went on to study both Dance and Environmental Studies at Hobart and William Smith Colleges where she was awarded multiple arts and academic scholarships. Upon graduating Summa Cum Laude in 2012, Katherine won a Fulbright award to teach English courses in Argentina for one year. During her stay, Katherine continued her movement education by dabbling a wide array of dance styles and circus arts including aerial silks, AcroYoga, contact improvisation, juggling, and Argentine tango. She is fascinated by the unique micro cultures born from each of these different movement practices and loves to combine ideas from these disciplines into her own choreography.

Katherine has taught at various locations around Rochester including Young Ladies of Grace dance studio, WellBEING Fitness studio, and Midtown Athletic Club. During her professional career she has participated in numerous training programs and performances across the USA and in South America, Europe, and Canada. She has presented her own choreography locally at the Multi-Use Community Cultural Center (MUCCC) and the Rochester Fringe Festival. This is her second year as a touring company member with Rochester-based PUSH Physical Theatre, where she combines her knowledge of contemporary dance with mime, acrobatics, and theatrical storytelling. Katherine is thrilled for the opportunity to continue playing, learning, and sharing the power of dance at the beautiful Nu Movement studio.
